I am studying in UK but live in China, am I a data subject?
A data subject is an individual who lives in any of the EU countries. The individual does not need to be a permanent resident.
A data subject can be a student from China who is living/studying at a university in Germany or another EU country. Even though the person is not a German citizen, so long as he/she has their feet physically on German soil (or any EU country) they have the same rights as a data subject as any resident or citizen with permanent residency. The reason for this is that data protection is a human right, and a human right is all inclusive, not exclusive.
